The State is actively engaged in envisioning, designing, and implementing the reforms under Ease of Doing Business shared by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) each year.Meghalaya has also prioritizedsteps to minimize regulatory compliance for businesses & industries and decriminalize minor offencesto make it easier, simpler and quicker for businesses to operate for their entire life cycle.
From its inception till the year 2019, the Ease of Doing Business ranking of Meghalaya was among the lowest. In the year 2020, Meghalaya was recognized as an “Emerging Business Ecosystem” by DPIIT- an acknowledgement that is a testament to the State's dedicated commitment to creating a favorable business environment. Meghalaya has also taken proactive steps for digitization of records and carrying out the minimizing compliance burden exercise in the State by identifying burdensome compliances & redundant rules to eventually remove / minimize / simplify them.
